Preschool Dismisses at 2:50 p.m.
Pupils arriving after the prescribed starting time are tardy and must report
to the Office before being admitted to the classroom. Pupils are not to arrive
at the Dr. Frederick N. Sweetsir School before 8:30 a.m. This applies to all
pupils. If you must drive your child to school, your cooperation in observing
this policy will be most appreciated. Also, please note that the driveway at
Dr. Frederick N. Sweetsir School is reserved for buses between 8:15 a.m.-9:00
a.m. and 12:05 p.m.-3:00 p.m.

NO SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

NO SCHOOL announcement will be broadcast on radio stations WBZ- 1030AM, WNBP - 1470AM, WRKO - 680AM; and television stations - Channels
4, 5, 7 and 25. The "NO SCHOOL" signal will be broadcast over radio stations listed below and television station WBZ-TV Channel 4. The local fire alarm will ring at 6:30 a.m. to signal No School.

DELAYED OPENING
A decision may be made to delay the opening of school for 1, 1.5, or 2 hours when weather conditions are hazardous during the early morning hours. No morning Kindergarten or Preschool will be held with a two-hour delay. Schools will be dismissed at the regular time
School cancellation or a delayed opening information will be posted on Pentucket's website (www.prsd.org) by 6:00 A.M. Parents may, of course, use discretion in determining whether or not to keep their children home during snowy or extremely cold weather

The Superintendent may delay the opening of school for one or two hours when weather conditions are hazardous during the early morning hours. The starting time for school on delayed openings will be:Dr. Frederick N. Sweetsir School 9:35, 10:05, or 10:35 a.m.

School will be dismissed at the regular time. The announcement for delayed openings will be broadcast over radio stations WNBP, WBZ, WROP, and WHDH. It will be heard as DELAYED OPENING. AM Kindergarten and AM Preschool will be held with a one hour delay. NO AM Kindergarten or Preschool with a two hour delay. (DELAYED OPENINGS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE)

SCHOOL CANCELLATIONS BECAUSE OF INCLEMENT WEATHER

In the event that school must be closed while children are in session, notices of such early dismissal will be given over the radio stations listed above. Parents should make provisions for and with their child for such emergency dismissals.

 

 
Directions to the Dr. Frederick N. Sweetsir School

The Dr. Sweetsir Elementary School is part of the Pentucket Regional School System. The town of Merrimac is located in the northeast corner of Massachusetts, between the cities of Haverhill, to the west, and Amesbury, to the east. Our town borders New Hampshire.

1. Take Route 495 to Exit 53 (Broad Street, Merrimac, Merrimacport)
2. At the end of the ramp take a:
- RIGHT turn, if coming south, onto Broad Street
- LEFT turn, if coming north, onto Broad Street
3. Continue to a "T" intersection and a STOP sign (you will be facing our police/fire station
- if you are facing a marina and the Merrimack River you must reverse directions and
cross back over 495)
4. Take a LEFT turn at the stop sign onto Route 110 Main Street.
5. Continue up a rise one quarter mile to the center of town.
6. Take a RIGHT turn onto Church Street (at either corner there is the brick
Merrimac Savings Bank and a two-story brick office building currently
housing Town & Country Florist)
7. Continue about one mile. The school is on the left side.
